Where Katie likes to Shop, Eat, and Play...

Toronto and GTA

 Places to Work Out

Athletic Training Professionals Owned by Jamie Hollins – Uptown and Pickering

These are the facilities where Katie trains at when she is in Toronto.  There are two great locations, but the newest one is at Downsview Park.  Downsview Park ATP gym is the largest in Canada and the best one to get in a good sweat.  The other ATP gym is in Pickering ON, and is by appointment only.

Health Movement Pilates Owned by Fanny Letourneau – Pickeirng

Health Movement is a great place to get realigned and an amazing core workout.  Fanny is a two time Olympian and Bronze medalist and she really knows how to get you working and feeling good.

Places to Relax

Iyashi Bedrock Bathing Spa – Uptown

This place is Katie's piece of heaven in Toronto.  The relatively new concept of rock bathing is foreign to North Americans but it has been practiced in Japan for many years now.  The experience is amazing and you will never fele so good after a treatment.  This is a serious recommend it for everyone.

Places to Eat

Kobo Japanese Restaurant- Pickering and Downtown

Kobo is the most popular meeting place for Katie and her family.  They love to fill themselves with good conversation and delicious food.  Kobo specializes in traditional Japanese food including fresh sushi.  Owner Norbu always provides Katie with a welcoming smile whenever she arrives at her favourite restaurant.  Katie always get the salmon teriyaki bento box.

Pho Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant- Pickering

When Katie doesn't know what to eat she almost always choose Pho.  Pho Saigon is a clean place with great food.  Katie gets the number 37, rare beef pho, she can always eat noodles!

GUU Japanese Restaurant – Downtown

GUU features fun family style eating with busting atmosphere.  You may find yourself sharing a table with strangers, but you’ll only be focused on the food.  This tapas, in Japanese ‘izakaya’, place is rich in food and good times.  A great place for a social special occasion.

Places to shop

G&G Electronics

“Home of the real deal” is their slogan and it’s so true.  Gary and the gang provides and latest and greatest.  If you still believe in customer service and appreciate educated sales persons then you need to go here.  This family business of over 50 years is the best place to get electronics you need and crave or just go to say hi to Katie's family.

The Pacific Mall

This place has almost everything you need from bubble tea to anime.  It’s mainly an Asian mall with a wide variety of clothing shops and electronics.  Pacific mall is a great shopping experience and dining pleasure.

J-Town

If you want anything Japanese then head to J-Town.  It’s a grocery store, home stuff store, bakery, and fish market all is one.  Lunch time is amazing here with the best prices and quality of food.  They even sell onigari (rice ball with fish hidden inside).

Squamish and Vancouver

Places to workout/play

Squamish Athletic Club

The Squamish Athletic Club is the best place in Squamish to hit the weights.  They have everything needed to get in a good workout and maybe check out a spin or yoga class as well.  This gym is very clean and has a community feeling about it.  Also at any given moment you could see a world class athletes like Sarah Burke, Tom Valisek or Katie!

Places to Eat

Naked Lunch – Squamish

Naked Lunch Is located in the Cheafton plaza beside Save-On foods.  This is the BEST lunch spot in Squamish.  It’s family owned and they roast all their own meats in house.  Katie suggests the roast beef panini with au jus, it’s to die for.  All the soups are made fresh and can easily run out so get in early!!
